Sounds of Nature

As spring has come upon us, everything has awakened and come back to life after winter. Pollination is taking place, flowers are blooming, bees are buzzing, and leaves are green on the trees. One of the easiest ways to de-stress and calm the nervous system is to wake up and notice the things around you. The things that God has already placed here on this earth for your enjoyment. In the hustle and bustle of life, it's often easy to forget the simple things that make a huge difference. We all need a place to go where we can unplug and just let the cares and burdens of everyday life lie.

Today, take time to revel in the joyful songs of the birds, the splash of a bubbling brook, the whisper of the wind speaking through the trees, the roar of the ocean waves, or the laughter of a child. These sounds can deeply nourish the soul. Just as our bodies long for nourishment, so do our souls.

Find a place to sit quietly, close your eyes, take a deep breath, hold it for a count of 5, and slowly exhale, letting the stress of the day go. Relax your neck and shoulders and listen to the sounds of nature. You'll be pleasantly surprised by how good you feel when you open your eyes. Happy Spring!
