Where the Mind Goes, the Body Follows

Mindset is one of the most often covered topics within the coaching realm. It plays an important role in what we do. We've all had goals that we wanted to achieve but didn't because of our destructive beliefs about ourselves. Beliefs that tell us:
1) You're not strong enough
2) You're going to fail
3) You don't have the right skills, education, or what it takes to succeed
4) She/he is more attractive and has more poise than you
5) She/he is a much better speaker than you
6) They'll make fun of you when you open your mouth
7) People will reject you and what you have to offer
The list can go on and on. These self-limiting beliefs about yourself limit your true potential. They are rooted in unpleasant past experiences and are more often than not, completely unjustified. So, we have to abandon all self-limiting beliefs to move forward. You most likely have goals that you want to reach, but like most people with big dreams, you're trapped by your own mindset. Negative thoughts, fear, and something else that is holding you back.
I want you to stop and think about what your life would be like if you had complete confidence in yourself and your abilities. Jot down a few things here. __________________________________________________________

Would you have pursued your dream of traveling the world?
Would you be married to that amazing person a friend introduced you to?
Would you be living by the ocean and giving surf lessons or teaching yoga?
What has been the ultimate dream in your life?
Does that dream still hold space in your heart?
The final first step to overcome crippling self-perception is to acknowledge these beliefs. The second step is reframing these thoughts.
Take action: Write down three goals you want to conquer in the next year.
Imagine yourself taking action to achieve these goals. What feelings arise now when you do this?

Example:
Goal: to lose the last ten pounds
Self-limiting belief: But I love to eat and hate to exercise
Reframed belief: I can find balance between food and daily movement I enjoy doing, and the weight will come off naturally.
With practice, self-limiting beliefs lose their power over you!
